ALKU

Recruiting Intern

June 2023 • Andover, MA

What I liked

Working at ALKU has taught me so much about the sales industry. I love that even though I am currently working virtually, I am still able to learn about the company and role just as if I was working in person. Through out the internship, I have received great mentorship from both the division I am working for, and my VTC manager. I have been able to connect with and build relationships with students across the east coast.

Advice

The most important thing this internship has taught me is to take risks. Trusting your managers and taking risks has proven to be a great way to learn about myself and a great way to succeed in this industry.

What I liked

I enjoyed the internship structure a lot. ALKU does a great job of providing interns with the same duties as full time employees, allowing them to truly grasp what a career with ALKU would be like. The culture with interns as well as the general company culture is fantastic as well. There are so many opportunities to develop professional skills with this internship!

Advice

Put yourself out there. Meeting as many people as possible and learning their tactics on the phones can help you become the best possible recruiter you can be.

Account Manager Intern

June 2023 • Durham, NH

What I liked

ALKU has been an eye opening experience and nothing what I expected it would be. The company culture alone made me want to stay at ALKU because it's the most fun and positive environment I have ever had in a workplace. The endless help and support from my managers, mentors, and co-workers gives you that extra motivation to keep pushing forward if the day is tough, and the good days you have don't go unnoticed as everyone is cheering you on and letting you know that you belong here

What I wish was different

Nothing

Advice

To push out of your comfort zone and listen to your mentors and managers. They are above you for a reason and have been in your shoes once and know what it takes to climb the ladder to success. As well as to not overthink what you're doing and not being to hard on yourself if you made a mistake. When your doing something new you're going to make a lot of mistakes and that's how you learn about the role your in and it will make you better at your job in the long-run.

What I liked

ALKU provides the absolute BEST mentors and managers. There is people to help and bounce questions off of every minute that you are at the internship. I worked virtually which consists of you being in a zoom with a manager to help all day long. The people who work here are fun and extremely nice and there is a huge sense of community. ALKU has an amazing company culture!

Account Manager Intern (Internet and Software)

June - August 2022 • Harrisonburg, VA

What I liked

I loved the environment and community at the office. It was so friendly and opening, so it made it very enjoyable to head to work every day. Also, it helped deal with stress because the people I worked with were so always open to talk to.

What I wish was different

Not much! Everything went smooth, I learned a lot, and had a great first time experience with a position like this.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is that you don't have to be so nervous or the absolute best when starting a position. Eventually you will learn everything and if you continue to work hard, you can become the best!

What I wish was different

Advice

Overall a positive experience, the company has a great culture and brings lots of excitement to work. Personally, it was not a role I enjoyed and I did not look forward to making hundreds of calls on a daily basis. If you see yourself as a recruiter and enjoy cold-calling, then I highly recommend interning there.

What I liked

I liked working with people of all different ages and joining the team meeting calls. I also enjoyed having my own personal mentor.

What I wish was different

Due to Covid, it was a remote internship. I wish I was in the office to get the whole experience and get a feel for what the vibe was like inside the office.

Advice

It is very tedious. There is a lot of lot cold calling involved, however, it was a stepping stone for setting up my career.

Sales Intern

July - August 2020 • Harrisonburg, VA

What I liked

I loved how friendly everyone at ALKU was! Also, they would give you extra money based on commission which was awesome!

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more direction. On the first day, we were already cold calling people and thrown into the field. So it was hard adjusting to something pretty difficult.

Advice

In order to fully enjoy working for a staffing firm, you need to be someone who doesn’t mind being on the phone for hours with people. Also, you have to be ready to start as soon as possible and learn from mistakes.

Quality Recruiter

June - August 2017 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I loved the work environment and how willing everyone was to help the interns whether or not they were in the same department. I also loved the positive reinforcement and recognition the company gave and the work being done. This is one of the first internships where the work I did played an impact on the company and how they were doing.

What I wish was different

I wish the software we used in the beginning had been more organized for the number of interns working.

Advice

Don't lose hope from a bad day, tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities and you just have to keep dialing.
