Fellowships with Data Driven WV (#10668998)

Data Driven WV (“DDWV”), an outreach center within the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, is seeking undergraduate and graduate students for our various fellowship roles to lead teams of student volunteers and complete real-world projects that address the needs of an organization in topics that include, but are not limited to, data analytics, software selection, application development, cybersecurity, visualizations, and artificial intelligence.

These positions are open to students across WVU; however, students in one of the following undergraduate (major and/or minor) or graduate programs are preferred:

• Management Information Systems (MIS), 

• Business Data Analytics (BUDA), 

• Applied AI and Data Analytics, or 

• Business Cybersecurity Management (CYBR). 

Additionally, the ideal student will be passionate about making a difference through data-driven, technical insights and solutions. Students in these fellowship positions will work closely with DDWV, faculty, and other university resources to ensure successful project outcomes. 

The pay rate is $16 to $25 per hour. Rate is based on seniority in the DDWV program and level of academic studies.

Note that there is both a standard and federal work-study version of this job available. These will be separate job postings.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Lead and manage a team of student volunteers on a real-world project to assist an organization 

• Coordinate interactions between project partners, students, and faculty to ensure project completion 

• Facilitate undergraduate technology projects 

• Identify resources for student projects 

• Plan and organize outreach efforts via social media and other online platforms 

• Provide programming and technology support for students, faculty, and staff 

• Support learning outcomes and the mission of DDWV 

• Attend an all-day project management boot camp the first Saturday of the semester in January

Qualifications 

• Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at WVU throughout the Spring 2026 semester

• Must be able to work at least 10 hours per week

• Undergraduates majoring in MIS or Applied AI and/or minoring in BUDA or CYBR are preferred

• Demonstrated project management and leadership skills 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills 

• Experience with technology tools used in data analytics, systems development, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity is preferred 

• Prior experience participating in a Data Driven WV project is strongly preferred
