Photographer/Videographer Intern (10906425)
The Student Photographer/Videographer creates photo and video content for WVU’s Storytelling department, within the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing. The ideal candidate has experience with photography and video. However, it’s fine if you have just one area and are willing to learn the other.
Student workers will complete photo assignments and work on video projects using Sony mirrorless cameras. Cameras and lenses will be provided. You should have a good eye, an ability to work collaboratively as well as independently, and be excited about finding and telling stories visually.
This is an exciting time for the SCM Storytelling team – we are capturing the academic, research, outreach and student experiences at WVU and bringing the institution to life with our stories. Check out some of our recent photography and video work.
If sports is your jam, there are cool opportunities here. Our department has passes/credentials for all WVU sporting events that we share among our team. We focus on the student/fan experience at games, and not so much on the sports action.
The intern will be expected to work during regular university business hours as well as some nights and weekends. You will participate in operations and functions with the Strategic Communications and Marketing team and receive real-world experiences that will prepare you for a career in fields of photography, videography, content creation, journalism, marketing, and/or social media.
Candidates for this position should have experience in photo and/or video and be capable of producing creative and striking imagery that engages our audiences. The intern will work closely with our photographers, videographers, writers and social media team — often collaborating on projects. We value excellence and encourage innovation and curiosity — aiming to have fun in the process.
This is an in-person position. Hours are flexible and will be set to not interfere with the student’s class schedule. Some evening and weekend work is expected.
