Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Tierra del Sol Foundation is seeking compassionate, energetic, and reliable individuals to support adults with developmental disabilities as they pursue employment, education, volunteer opportunities, and community engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in psychology, education, social work, human services, nursing, occupational therapy, speech pathology, recreation therapy, or related fields.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one support to adults in community and workplace settings.
- Coach and encourage individuals to build independence, social skills, and confidence.
- Assist with employment, volunteer activities, college programs, and community outings.
- Document participant progress using a web-based system.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, employers, and community partners.
- Support individuals in achieving their personal goals while promoting inclusion and independence.
Qualifications
- Passion for helping others and making a positive impact.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in community settings.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid California driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Reliable vehicle and current auto insurance required.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or other helping professions is a plus, but training is provided.
