Chambers College Social Media and Content Creation Internship
The WVU John Chambers College of Business and Economics is seeking a junior or senior graphic design student to work up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring semesters, starting in the Fall 2020 semester.
Location
The WVU John Chambers College of Business and Economics is on the downtown campus. The Office of Strategic Communications is in Suite 340 on the third floor.
Compensation
Student workers are paid $10 per hour with an annual review and potential increase based on performance. Students clock in and out with the web based WVU timecard system.
Direct Report
Student worker will report directly to the Social Media Specialist but works closely with other members of the team including the Assistant Dean of Communications, Engagement and Impact, the Senior Writer, the Design team, Web Developer and Design interns.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow WVU branding guidelines and implement the color palette, typography, and graphic elements in a variety of materials for the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
· Knowledge of the latest social media trends; Desire to research new trend other universities and/or colleges on campus to serve as inspiration to lead design for Chambers College.
· Attend events with or without your advisor to gather photos/ videos/ quotes and report back
· Speak to / interview other students, faculty and staff members, and possibly guest speakers, to create social media content and LIVE event coverage (i.e. Instagram and Facebook)
· Be able to capture visuals and quotes while on the job and report back to your advisor
· Find a good visual to help tell the story and be able to back up your choice for “why” you think we should post on one of our platforms
· Join Strategic Communications project management workflow program to get assignments and work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
· Communicate with faculty and staff throughout the College to better understand projects and work through requested edits.
Social Media Intern Preferable Skills:
· Experience managing a social media account besides your personal account(s), such as a company, a client, an internship, a student organization, etc.
· Experience posting on social media accounts using a posting tool, such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.
· Experience using Adobe platforms, specifically Illustrator and InDesign on a Macintosh platform.
· Experience with Instagram Stories
· Experience with creating videos and IGTV Instagram platform
· Knowledge of the latest social media trends; Desire to research new trends
· Ability to write:
o You will be writing quick content for social media captions that captures the attention of our followers and also tells the story behind the photo
o You may be asked to come up with quick CTA’s (call to action) on social media posts, banners, info stations, blogs and more
· Photography experience (camera knowledge and experience preferred)
· Experience shooting video content on both a camera and an iPhone
