Chemical Engineering-Undergraduate Research Assistant (8125682)
Our lab is seeking junior and senior undergraduate students to work alongside graduate students on projects in the field of microwave-enhanced catalysis, plastics upcycling, natural gas conversion, water purification, and carbon dioxide utilization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a student worker, you will have the opportunity to learn several analytical techniques and instrumentation, including catalysis synthesis, experimental design, data analysis, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis, surface area analysis, FTIR, Raman, and temperature programmed techniques. In addition to gaining valuable research experience, you will also be asked to assist with daily laboratory cleaning and organization. Potentially become an author on a research paper or travel to national meetings to present your work. We are looking for students who can commit 10-20 hours per week to work in our lab between the hours of 8-5pm. Opportunities to work on weekends or outside of these hours will be at the discretion of the supervising graduate student.
Qualifications:
Junior and Seniors in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. While previous laboratory experience and knowledge of AutoCAD, COMSOL, catalyst reactions, and microwave-RF principles are a plus, but not required.
