The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) – West Region – is accepting applications for one (1) full-time, 1st shift Physical Therapist position in Norwalk, CT.

  • Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
    • Regular Days Off; Saturday & Sunday
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Will be required to travel.

In your role as a Physical Therapist, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Select, plan and administer a physical therapy program for rehabilitation of individuals with an intellectual disability or other developmental disabilities;
  • Arrange individual treatment schedules for habilitation and rehabilitation;
  • Refer individuals to other disciplines such as speech or hearing for further assessment;
  • Select diagnostic tools;
  • Provide in-service training to staff on physical therapy practices;
  • Serve as a consultant or clinical advisor to other staff, programs or units;
  • Coordinate physical therapy services with other disciplines such as occupational and rehabilitation therapy;
  • Lead unit staff meetings to discuss individual progress and treatment plans;
  • Perform diagnostic tests to determine individual level of functioning;
  • Write and implement treatment plans;
  • Perform related duties as required;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain licensure as a Physical Therapist issued by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health in accordance with the applicable Connecticut General Statutes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years experience working with Intellectually Disabled/Developmentally Disabled individuals and/or adult/geriatric population.
