Summer Camp Assistant Director

This is a perfect opportunity for energetic individuals who are passionate about working with youth – whether you're an experienced teacher, counselor, youth leader, or a college student majoring in education, recreation or other related field. Take your skills to the next level by overseeing a team of 10-14 camp leaders and managing a group of 60 enthusiastic elementary aged campers base at the Louisville Recreation & Senior Center daily.

  • $100 early commitment bonus to successful applicants who accept a Summer Day Camp offer by March 1, 2025
  • $100 bonus to camp staff who work a minimum of eight (8) weeks out of the nine (9) weeks of the program
  • $50 referral bonus to new hires for each referral that leads to a new Summer Day Camp team member who works a minimum of eight (8) weeks of program

Examples of Duties:

  • Lead the Fun: Oversee the daily activities for up to 60 elementary aged campers, creating an engaging and inclusive environment where every camper has an opportunity to feel connected and has an unforgettable summer.

TIME REQUIREMENTS 

  • Seasonal Summer Job: Requires 21-40 hours/week, Monday through Thursday.
  • Camp Schedule: Runs June 2 – July 31, 2025; must commit to at least 8 of the 9 weeks.
  • Pre-Camp Preparations: Approximately 20 flexible, remote, planning hours needed between March and May.
  • Training: Approximately 20+ mandatory hours in May, including one Saturday (May 10 or 17, TBD) and the full week of May 27–30. Student schedules can be accommodated.

General Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age by first day of Summer Day Camp on June 2, 2025.
  • Candidates must provide one (1) or more Verification Letter(s) documenting a minimum of four-hundred and fifty-five (455) hours of paid or volunteer work with four (4) or more youth in a group. Assistance is available if needed in securing verification, e-mail MandyP@LouisvilleCO.gov

Each Verification Letter must include the following:

  1. Ages of children worked or volunteered with
  2. Total number of hours worked directly with children
  3. Start and end dates of paid or volunteer work
  4. Duties performed
  5. Name, title, and contact information of person providing the Verification Letter
  6. Signature of the person providing the Verification Letter
