Purpose2Action (P2A) (Community Partner/Federal Work-Study) #9971100

Are you interested in giving back to your community? Would you like to volunteer more but also need to work? Are you service-focused or have an interest in non-profit work? Would you like the opportunity to find a job that meets your passions, interests, and skills?

The WVU Purpose2Action (P2A) program is a paid community engagement experience that places Pell-eligible undergraduates with non-profit and public sector organizations to work on mission-driven projects to benefit the community.

Who:

WVU undergraduate students from any field of study and academic year who are eligible to receive the Pell grant are encouraged to apply.

Where:

Our host organizations (current WVU Center for Community Engagement community partners) address a wide range of social issues and work with a variety of populations locally and throughout WV. The following are just a few of the community partners who are currently active:

  • PACE Enterprises
  • Scott’s Run Settlement House
  • Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center
  • Project Healthy Kids
  • Lauren's Wish Addiction Triage Center

How:

P2A participants will work on projects with their community partner throughout the Spring 2026 semester. Each participant will work with their host organizations for 10 hours per week. The project could require in-person, hybrid, and/or remote support based upon organizational needs and public health guidance. In addition, participants attend routine cohort trainings and mentor check-ins.

Learning Outcomes

  • Reinforce academic commitment
  • Explain community needs addressed in work
  • Explore purpose in terms of career pathways
  • Describe the impact of intercultural awareness and its effect on community service
  • Transfer knowledge of self when working with others

Students will be matched with a community project based on desire, purpose, and availability.

Students are paid as student workers ($15/hour).
